All the Right Tools June 11, 2008
By J. Sherman
Durability: Educational: Fun:
When I started building plastic models, I bought tools that left my models scratched, chipped and jagged all over. It wasn't until I did some websurfing that I found the one product that meets all my modeling needs--Tamiya's basic tool set. This includes a side cutter for separating plastic parts; a metal file for smoothing out rough edges; a pair of angled tweezers for handling small parts; two screwdrivers for the models that require them; and a retractable knife with a snap-off blade. Most of these tools (two of which are untested) fulfill their purpose well, and all the tools make this set a must-own for any hobbyist. This review will be revised with further testing of the product.Since this product includes sharp objects, parental supervision is strongly advised if the product is being used by children.

Must-have supplies for building gunpla. July 14, 2010
By Corb

Durability: Educational: Fun:
If you plan on building more then one model kit in your lifetime, this tool set is a must-have. A quick rundown of the contents:Plastic Side Cutters - these are designed SPECIFICALLY for cutting the pieces from your plastic trees. I used normal ole' hardware side cutters, and they got the job done, but these will get the job done ten times better. You're gonna get perfect, clean cuts every time and no blemished plastic. The tip is also smaller and slimmer than the typical hardware store cutter, which is perfect for getting into tiny nooks. Definitely a must have.Plastic File - Used to file away marks on pieces left after cutting. Again, any old file will work the same, but this one is shaped and sized nicely for the task at hand. Very good to have around and I have got plenty of use out of it.Angled Tweezers - A MUST HAVE for applying decals, but also has other assorted uses. Mostly, though, if you've ever tried to apply a tiny decal to a kit, you know how frustrating it is to get perfect. This item remedies the problem one hundred percent.Craft Knife - again, I have hobby knives lying around that work just as fine as this one already. This one is better than others in particular situations, so it's a welcome addition. Two screwdrivers - They're screwdrivers. Not much to say here. If you happen to have a kit that requires screws, and you don't own a normal household assortment of screwdrivers, you're in business. All in a nice little hard plastic case. If you are even considering getting into plastic model kits, buy this right away!

Everything I needed July 24, 2010

Durability: Educational: Fun:
This set is everything you need to start scale modeling, save for paint supplies and perhaps a pin vise. The tools are made in Japan and of very high quality- great for detailed work and clean separation of parts. The blade and side cutters in particular are amazingly sharp and precise.I was using a regular lock-back blade instead of side cutters before I picked this up, and despite the fact that it was really sharp I'm now wondering how I could have lived without these purpose-built tools.

Good buy
Good kit if you need it. The snippers are really useful. Never thought I'd needed them until I used it. Only thing that happens is they get a bit dull after extended use.

The cutter works great. While it's not ultra sharp compared to a stainless steel cutter, it gets the job done in great fashion. Read more

small and requires constant recharging September 28, 2011
By mahu

Durability: Educational: Fun:
Smaller and lower powered than expected, but still fun. However, requires constant recharging from the controller to the car. Takes 5 minutes to recharge, and then runs for maybe 5 - 10 minutes. But not bad for young kids with short attention spans anyway. :-)

Toys inside are fun June 3, 2009
By J. Cranmer
Durability: Educational: Fun:
The small toys are great for little hands and is fun for big brother to play along. The only downfall is that all the tools do not fit very well inside the bag, it would be nice if they all would fit inside. There are holders on the outside, but they fall out.

My son loves this! November 18, 2010
By carin
Durability: Educational: Fun:
I bought this toy when my son was still a newborn. It interested him back then and it still interests him now at 18 months. There was a period of time where he didn't want to play with it, but that's normal for any infant - they need change. But he has recently discovered in the past 2 months that he likes to dance along with the music.

Fun but learn on a cheaper one November 8, 2011
By Robert K. Mertz
Amazon Verified Purchase
Durability: Educational: Fun:
These small gyro helicopters are all very addicting and lots of fun to play with. They can be a little frustrating when you have to keep charging them but if you have a few of them then the fun doesn't stop since you can charge one while flying the other. Also be prepared to purchase lots of spare parts, especially blades and fly bars as you're going to crash this thing multiple times. If you're purchasing your first gyro helicopter I would recommend finding one in the $20 price mark and practice on that. Additionally, the missile launcher function on this chopper can be fun but be mindful of where you fire them as they can be hard to find in certain terrain.

A cow with a propeller compared to cyma 108 November 30, 2011
By Felix
Amazon Verified Purchase
Durability: Educational: Fun:
I owned the Syma 108 before I purchased this one. My review will compare between the two.Cons:1)Compared to Syma this one flies like a fat cow. Rotating left and right is very responsive but forward and reverse takes like 5 seconds to kick in after you move the control which is really annoying and prone to crashes. The altitude adjustment response is also poor.2)This one is much noisier. Sounds like a flying lawnmower.3)Also the left throttle used to control altitude is not spring loaded to throttle down when released like Syma which makes it harder to control the altitude. (A little workaround of tying a rubber band to the throttle stick and anchoring the other end on the bottom of the controller helped. This keeps the tension on the throttle in the downward direction, which automatically pulls the throttle down when you release. This helps control the altitude much better.)4)Almost double the price of Syma.Pros:1)Fires Missiles! Not so fun for my cat but super fun for me. I'm planing to modify the mechanism to hopefully squirt water instead.I wish the Syma had this option.2)Well constructed. The materials used to make this one feel more solid then the Syma.

Great RC Helo January 1, 2012
By Kate
Amazon Verified Purchase
Durability: Educational: Fun:
This helo is a great buy. I bought the very similar Syma 107 also, and this helo is more fun to fly. It is a tad harder to fly than the Syma due to the throttle not being spring loaded, but once you get used to it it is better because you can set the throttle to hover and you don't have to continue to apply pressure. Other benefits over the Syma are: turbo boost that increases speed 2x, and it shoots missiles. They actually project to about 15 feet. Pretty cool. Also, this comes with 2 extra rotors (Syma doesn't include this) in case they break, but you would have to crash very hard to break these. It is very durable, even on hardwood floors.
